Which shot records should I have for my dog or puppy?

Puppies: Up-to-date for their age, with at least the first set of DHLPP shots.   Because socialization is so important and needs to begin as early as possible we do not usually recommend waiting for the full three sets of puppy shots. We take extra precautions with our puppy classes with cleaning and exposure.   At Noco Unleashed, we agree with the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior’s Position statement -“In general, puppies can start puppy socialization classes as early as 7-8 weeks of age. Puppies should receive a minimum of one set of vaccines at least 7 days prior to the first class and a first de-worming. They should be kept up to date throughout the class.”   Other Dogs: DHLPP Rabies vaccine   We recommend getting your Bordatella shot while your dog is attending group classes.   Upload your vaccine records through our online registration portal when you sign up for your class.

What training methods do you use?

We strive for learner-centered, minimally stressful, and scientifically backed training methods for all animals and humans involved. We use gentle methods and converstaional  based training with the most up to date science for dog training and behavior.

What if I can not make it to one of the classes?

Accepted Answer

If you are unable to attend one of the weeks during your class, please notify your instructor that you will be absent.    You will also have access to our online homework portal so that you do not miss out on any information from class and can easily work on the skills learned that week right from your living room.

What is a ‘clicker’ and do I have to use it during training?

A clicker is a tool used to tell your dog ‘yes, you got it.’ It’s an excellent way of marking the precise behavior you want and elimianate the human emotions behind many other marker systems used for training. The click always equals a reward.   You do not have to use a clicker if you do not want to, you can use the word ‘yes’ instead of a clicker in many of our classes.

Can we bring the whole family to a private training session or a group class?

Yes, your family is welcome to join. Just keep in mind that other students are working and that we will want to keep distractions to a minimum.   Subject to change due to other factors.

What do I need for a class or lesson?

A hungry dog.  Mat Crate (optional) Very yummy treats. They should be soft and the size of a pea, we recommend chopping up hotdogs, mozzarella cheese or soft liver treats. Treat pouch Toys Standard leash. (no chains or flexi lead) Stadard collar or body harness. (no choke, prong or e-collars) Water bowl Long lasting chew (bully, tremenda, stuffed kong) A bag to put it all in

Do you offer private dog training? Can a dog trainer or behavior consultant come to my house?

We do not offer in home private lessons at this time, but we do offer off-site private, semi-private (approval required) or virtual private lessons to help tackle your dog training needs. Visit Private Lessons to read more information.

Can I observe a dog training class?

At this time we are not allowing spectators to come to a class, as we want to make sure that all our students are comfortable in their learning environment. You can follow us on our social media platforms to get a glimpse into the training room and see what we are all about. We also have an online classroom orientation you can sign up for as well.

What is your refund and cancellation policy?

When signing up for a class carefully consider your schedule, commitment to training, and your dog before registering for a class. Our class sizes are small to ensure quality. By enrolling, you are reserving a space in one of our classes. A full refund may only be obtained if requested at least 7 business days prior to the start-date of the enrolled class to allow us time to fill your spot. If your dog is unable to attend due to an injury, or illness during your class, you will receive a 50% discount towards a future class or you may transfer into another class during the same week you were in if there is availability. To ensure quality, our class sizes are small and your Registration Fee purchases sessions in a specific class. Consequently, we do not offer “make-ups” for missed classes. However, you will have access to the online homework portal. All of our classes require a minimum of at least 3 dogs for the class to run. In the event a class has low enrollment, we will either call or email you at least 2 days before the class was scheduled to start to let you know there is a possibility the class may be cancelled or rescheduled and to offer you a full refund, or the opportunity to transfer to another class (at no extra cost).
